Carrie Underwood To Perform On American Idol Finale

NASHVILLE – (May 19, 2008) – The newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, Carrie Underwood, will return to the American Idol stage to perform on Wednesday, May 21 for the season 7 finale show fresh off her second consecutive win as Top Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Underwood will perform her current co-written smash hit “Last Name.”

Underwood is currently headlining her “Carnival Ride Tour” with special guest Josh Turner.

Carrie Underwood Featured in Nintendo DS Commercials

Nashville – (May 16, 2008) – Carrie Underwood is one of three female celebrities appearing in nationally-aired television commercials for Nintendo DS™ which will debut Monday, May 19.

Nintendo is making a popular color a regular part of the Nintendo DS color palette and Underwood, along with America Ferrera, will be featured in commercials for the Metallic Rose version of Nintendo DS. Metallic Rose debuted in late 2007 as part of a Nintendogs® bundle and will be available as a standalone hardware system at retailers nationwide late this month. Liv Tyler also will appear in Nintendo DS commercials that feature the two-toned Crimson/Black version.

Carrie Underwood Inducted As Newest Member Of Grand Ole Opry By Opry Member Garth Brooks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (May 10, 2008) Reigning Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year Carrie Underwood became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry tonight, inducted by fellow Oklahoman, Opry member Garth Brooks, before a sold-out Opry House audience.

Presenting Underwood with the Opry Member Award, Brooks said, Nothing will last as long or be more important than this award right here tonight. Congratulations.

Giving the award a kiss, Underwood beamed, This is going to have a very special place in my awards case. Underwood made her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 10, 2005, just two weeks after winning American Idol. Her love for the Opry started as a child as she grew up watching and listening to the show, dreaming of one day performing there and even becoming a member herself.

Idol Gives Back Appearance Airs Wednesday, CMT Music Awards on Monday

Nashville, TN – Three-time GRAMMY winner and reigning ACM and CMA Female Vocalist Carrie Underwood continues to rock on all cylinders this week, with both of her albums inside the country Top 10 and a host of chart stats and certifications underscoring the continued success of her 7x-Platinum 2005 debut disc, Some Hearts, as well as her Double-Platinum current release, Carnival Ride.

This week, Carrie accomplishes the impressive feat of scoring two singles inside the country airplay Top 20, with Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart showing her new single, “Last Name,” jumping to #17, while “All-American Girl” is now #12, after a previous two-week stint at #1.

“All-American Girl” is also going strong at Radio Disney, where it moves to #15 on this week’s Top 30 Countdown. The video, meanwhile, is currently #1 on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown, where Carrie also holds the #2 spot with “How Great Thou Art,” which she recorded for the GAC-televised concert special and like-titled album, How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites Live from the Grand Ole Opry.

Separately, in addition to the current Top 10 country sales of both of Carrie’s albums, two of her #1 singles – “Wasted” (from Some Hearts) and “So Small” (from Carnival Ride) – have both recently been RIAA certified as Gold Digital Singles, recognizing 500,000 purchased downloads.
