Carrie’s “PLAY ON TOUR” To Continue w/ Additional Shows Through 2010

36 Cents Per Ticket Charitable Donation To Be Made In the Spirit of Underwood’s Inspiring Album Track, “Change”

Six-time 2010 Academy of Country Music nominee Carrie Underwood will continue her highly successful “Play On Tour” through the end of this year as a result of fan demand and thriving ticket sales. The “Play On Tour” is hydrated by vitaminwater® and is now slated to run through December 19, 2010. Underwood will perform over 100 shows throughout the U.S. and Canada through the end of the year since launching her “Play On Tour” on March 11. Billy Currington and Sons of Sylvia will appear this fall as special guests. Tickets for the newly announced fall dates will go on sale beginning Saturday, April 24th at 10am – please see local venues for specific information. The “Play On Tour” is Presented by AEG Live.

Ever the charitable soul, Underwood will be donating 36 cents of every ticket sold for the fall tour dates to Save the Children’s United States Programs. This initiative was inspired by the “36 cents” written in the lyrics of her album track “Change” which addresses how even the smallest bit of spare change that one might have can add up to make a difference and help “change” the world. Fans can see Underwood perform this song, “Change,” on Idol Gives Back this Wednesday, April 21 on FOX. Save the Children (www.savethechildren.org) is also a beneficiary of Idol Gives Back, and is the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world.

Fans and critics alike give high praise to Underwood for her incredible vocals as well as the dynamite tour production on her “Play On Tour.” The Albany Times Union said, “When she let loose with a long high note, it just filled the huge arena and raised a million goose-bumps…Underwood understands how to connect with her audience, and her songs of love lost and won resonate with more resolve. And her voice, it’s just a gift from God.” “For nearly two hours, Underwood put on a veritable vocal clinic, nailing every note of her demanding set list,” claimed the Boston Herald. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review shared, “Her energy, charisma and talent are boundless, and hearing her belt out her hits with such passion is captivating….Underwood’s voice alone could make for a great concert, but the backing props, lighting and electronic effects also were spectacular.” The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette explained, “You quickly realize she’s one of those rare singers who sounds even better live. Numerous times throughout the set, her vocals grew gasps and screams from the packed house.” And Reading, PA’s Leigh Valley Music shared, “And when it’s all said and done and the lights go off, the stage stops shifting and the streamers and confetti are swept from the floor, Underwood’s voice is still the most special effect of all.”

The “Play On Tour,” under the direction of Raj Kapoor, brought in renowned set designer Michael Cotten, perhaps best known as Michael Jackson’s production designer for “This Is It,” as well as Emmy Award winning costume designer, Soyon An, who created one of a kind costumes for Underwood.

Underwood is a five-time Grammy Award winner, a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the 2009 Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, and three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner. Carrie Underwood has amassed more than 11 million in U.S. album sales since her debut CD in 2005, more than any other American Idol winner. Along the way, she has consistently broken new ground and became the first country artist in history to achieve twelve consecutive #1 singles.

Carrie’s “Temporary Home” Becomes Her 12th #1 Single!

Superstar Carrie’s gorgeous “Temporary Home” today becomes the 12th #1 single of her career and the second chart-topper from her Platinum-certified Play On collection. Sprinting to the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs in just 18 weeks, the song hit the chart summit faster than any other single this year.

One of seven tracks that Underwood co-wrote for Play On – and her fifth co-written single to top the charts – “Temporary Home” may portray poignant life moments, but the message is one that Carrie has always seen as uplifting, as she says, “It’s hopeful, and each person in each story, in each different place in their life, knows that things are going to be okay.”

On the CMT Top Twenty Countdown episode that premiered this past Friday, the touching music video for “Temporary Home” topped the countdown for the fifth consecutive week.

Fans can also be looking for Carrie as she makes a home on the cover of the April issue of Allure magazine, on sale now.

The only American Idol winner ever to achieve 12 #1 hits, Underwood’s collection of chart-toppers began with the instant success of her post-American Idol single, “Inside Your Heaven,” which debuted atop Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the summer of 2005. It was the first of five #1s to top the BDS or Mediabase charts from her 7x-Platinum debut, Some Hearts, with the others including the GRAMMY-winning “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Before He Cheats,” “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” and “Wasted.”

The five-time GRAMMY winner, ACM Entertainer of the Year, and three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner is also the first country artist in history ever to achieve 10 #1 singles on the strength of their first two albums when “I Told You So” became the fifth consecutive chart-topper from Carrie’s second album – the triple-Platinum Carnival Ride – which also included “Just a Dream” and three hits Carrie co-wrote: “So Small,” “All-American Girl,” and “Last Name.”
