NBC selected six-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist, Carrie Underwood, to perform “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the opening theme for primetime television’s No. 1 program, Sunday Night Football on NBC. Country music superstar Underwood, the season-four winner of American Idol, makes her Sunday Night Football debut on Sunday, September 8 on NBC’s first SNF broadcast of the 2013 NFL season, a heated NFC East rivalry game when Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants. The opening theme will continue each week kicking off Sunday Night Football every Sunday night throughout the NFL season on NBC.

“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” is set to the original Joan Jett song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and marks Underwood’s first production with NBC Sports. From 2007-2012, the song was performed by music superstar Faith Hill and in 2006, the inaugural season of Sunday Night Football, Pink performed the open.

Underwood is currently headlining and selling out arenas across North America on her “Blown Away Tour.” The tour, which launched last June, has played in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, and Australia, and will perform a total of 112 dates by the time is wraps on May 23 in Abbotsford, BC, Canada.

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum will explore superstar Carrie Underwood’s critically acclaimed world tour with the exhibition Carrie Underwood: The Blown Away Tour, which opens on June 5, 2013, and runs through November 10, 2013.

The exhibition will include costumes, instruments, microphones, set pieces and more from the six-time Grammy winner’s 2012-13 “Blown Away Tour,” which is set to re-launch on February 13 and run through May 23. The 2012 leg of “The Blown Away Tour” entertained more than a half a million fans in 62 cities across three continents.

“Carrie Underwood’s dynamic ‘Blown Away Tour’—starring her peerless powerhouse vocals and featuring amazing special effects including a tornado— has been entertaining music fans around the globe,” said Museum Director Kyle Young. “It’s easy to see why she was Pollstar’s 2012 top female country touring artist. Touring has always been a key element connecting music artists with their fans; those interactions help forge and strengthen the artist-fan relationship, and this exhibit speaks to that. The American and Canadian Red Cross will receive $1 dollar from each ticket sold on the North American leg to help provide shelter, food, and emotional support for those in need after a disaster. Her sold-out dates in Dublin and Belfast were not only her debut performances, but also marked her first visit to the countries of Ireland and Northern Ireland. She wrapped up her trip in London by closing the “C2C:Country To Country” Festival at the O2 Arena last night.

At the sold-out Belfast show at Waterfront Hall during St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Carrie invited a couple who happen to be some of her biggest Irish fans onto the stage where the gentleman proposed to his girlfriend of 10 years. As Carrie and the teary audience looked on, his girlfriend said yes to thunderous applause from the enthusiastic crowd.

GRAMMY News!

Sunday was a huge night for Carrie as she not only delivered an amazing performance on The 55th Annual GRAMMY® Awards, but also won the sixth GRAMMY of her career! Carrie took home the Best Country Solo Performance honor for “Blown Away” – and making the night all the more special for her was seeing her friends, songwriters Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, win Best Country Song for “Blown Away”!

Carrie and Josh and Chris have been good luck for each other in the past, as well: at the 2007 GRAMMYs, Josh and Chris won Best Country Song for Carrie’s “Before He Cheats” on the same night that Carrie won Best Female Country Vocal Performance, also for “Before He Cheats”!
