“Little Toy Guns” Is Climbing the Country Radio Top 10 as Underwood Leads the Industry with 5 Nominations for the Fan-Voted 2015 CMT Music Awards, Including Video of the Year

 

Seven-time GRAMMY® winner Carrie Underwood hit the country radio Top 10 this week with her current smash, “Little Toy Guns,” and Wednesday marked the debut of her live performance video of the song, which can be viewed online exclusively on Yahoo.

 

Recently in the spotlight among the amazing women in the annual “World’s Most Beautiful” issue of PEOPLE, Underwood filmed the clip late last year when she was the featured artist in Ram Country on Yahoo Music’s Artist Spotlight series throughout the month of December.

 

On Wednesday, Underwood’s official music video for “Little Toy Guns” was among her industry-leading five nominations for the fan-voted 2015 CMT Music Awards, where “Little Toy Guns” and her previous smash video “Something in the Water” are nominated for Female Video of the Year.

 

Winner of last year’s CMT Music Awards Video of the Year, Underwood is a double nominee in that category, as well, up for “Something in the Water” and “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert, the latter video also nominated for Collaborative Video of the Year.

 

A fan-voted show, voting is underway now at CMT.com and continues until June 8, at 10 AM, ET, to determine the winners and the Video of the Year finalists.  Additional voting at CMT.com will determine the winner of Video of the Year during the June 10 live telecast.

CMT today announced the nominations for the 2015 “CMT Music Awards,” the loudest night in country music, airing live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. On the heels of winning last year’s coveted video of the year, country superstar Carrie Underwood is in contention once again leading the pack with five nominations including two for “Video of The Year” (“Something in The Water” and “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert), two for “Female Video of the Year” (“Little Toy Guns” and “Something In The Water”), and “Collaborative Video of the Year,” (“Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert). Close behind are Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney, garnering four each. Voting begins now at CMT.com and continues until Monday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. ET.

 

CMT turned to a multiplatform rollout for today’s big announcement. The nominees were revealed in a series of phases kicking off at the TODAY show with a performance by Lady Antebellum. The trio debuted their new single “Long Stretch of Love” and announced nominees for the following categories: “Male of the Year,” “Female Video of the Year,” and “Video of the Year”. Nominations continued to rollout on social media, with Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood, announcing “Group Video of the Year” and “Breakthrough Video of the Year,” respectively, via their social media accounts. Nashville locals got into the action from hot spots around Music City to announce “Duo Video of the Year” and “Collaborative Video of the Year” and “Performance Video of the year,” via CMT’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.

 

Performers, presenters and this year’s host will be announced in the coming weeks.

 

Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday, May 16 at 11 am CST at all Ticketmaster outlets and Bridgestone Arena Box Office.

Superstar Carrie Underwood won her 7th GRAMMY®  Award last night at the 57th annual show, winning for Best Country Solo Performance for “Something in the Water.”  Underwood, who is expecting her first child, was not able to attend the show in Los Angeles but watched from her home in Nashville.

 

“I’m seriously so happy ‘Something in the Water’ won a GRAMMY!  This song means so much to me …I feel so honored and blessed!” Carrie tweeted last night.

 

"Something in the Water," written by Carrie, Chris DeStafano, and Brett James, was the debut single off her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 which topped Billboard’s Airplay/sales/streaming-based Hot Country Songs Chart for seven weeks as well as Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart for 18 weeks.  The song’s success surpasses her previous personal best set in 2006 with "Jesus, Take the Wheel."  The Platinum-certified song was also ranked #1 on Rolling Stone’s year-end social media readers’ poll of the "10 Best Country Songs of 2014."

Six-time GRAMMY® Award winner and current GRAMMY double-nominee Carrie Underwood world premiered the music video for her new single, “Little Toy Guns,” exclusively on her Facebook page, Facebook.com/CarrieUnderwood, on Friday morning, with fans rushing en masse to see the new clip, which has now garnered more than 5 million views to date.

Directed by PR Brown and produced by Steve Lamar for Lamar Bros TV, the “Little Toy Guns” music video reunites Underwood with child actress Grace Rundhaug, who played Marta when Underwood starred in NBC’s 2013 ratings blockbuster, The Sound of Music LIVE!

 

“It’s been really nice to be with Grace again,” Underwood shared.  “She’s such a talented little actress and such a sweetie.  When I was trying to think of who I wanted to see in this video, I just saw her face.”

 

Underwood continued, “The whole concept of the song is basically how this little girl hears her parents fighting, and it really affects her.”  Underwood credits director PR Brown with the video’s imaginative premise of an “incredible storybook theme where the little girl becomes the hero.”

Written by Underwood, Chris DeStefano, and Hillary Lindsey, “Little Toy Guns” was digitally delivered to country radio as a single on Friday for an official airplay impact date of February 17.

 

Also this weekend, Underwood could be seen bookending Super Bowl XLIX, as she starred in the special “Waiting All Day for a Super Bowl Fight” opening theme for the game’s broadcast.  The performance was an extension of Underwood’s role for the past two NFL seasons as the voice of Sunday Night Football’s opening theme, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”
