July 31, 2024 (Los Angeles, CA) 8-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood unites with Rock icons Papa Roach on a new recording of their multi-format hit single “Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)”, out Friday August 2nd. The dynamic duet was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and continues the mission of the California band to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health awareness, alongside partner organization(s) the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), who will receive royalties generated from both artists from the song, in perpetuity. The release will also raise awareness for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the United States and Canada.

“We were humbled that Carrie was open to our mission, and hearing the power of Carrie’s voice in that recording session we were blown away” said frontman Jacoby Shaddix. “Not only is her vocal ability unequaled, but the impact of her voice brings a new meaning to our cause and will help people all over the globe. It’s an honor to have a “Rock Star” bring life to this track with us.”

“I’m such a huge fan of Jacoby and Papa Roach and was honored to be invited to record ‘Leave A Light On’ with them,” says Underwood.  “It’s a beautiful song and the message behind it and the band’s mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness has never been more important.”

“Leave A Light On”, a band favorite, was first performed live last year with Shinedown and Spiritbox. In each city, including Nashville where Papa Roach fan Carrie Underwood was in attendance, the song was preceded by an emotional video PSA delivered by frontman Jacoby Shaddix, who pledged a donation to the AFSP on behalf of each city’s attendees, culminating in a $155,000 donation at the end of the tour.

The accomplishment motivated the band to commit even further by re-naming the single as “Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)”, in conjunction with the AFSP’s “Talk Away The Dark” campaign, and pledged a perpetual royalty from the song’s use, in any manner, to the AFSP, continuing their mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. The compelling song has connected with audiences globally and became the band’s 12th #1 and 26th Top-10 hit reaching #1 at Rock and Top-10 at Alternative in the US. The band’s efforts in raising money for the AFSP have not ceased and are now estimated to be over $250,000 – and growing.

“Papa Roach’s “Leave a Light On/Talk Away the Dark” has tapped into a cultural moment in which people are eager and ready for the message the song contains: that we all go through difficult times and that we can all be there for each other. We want to thank Carrie Underwood for joining with Papa Roach to record this new, inspiring duet version, which will reach even more fans and connect them to AFSP’s Talk Away the Dark campaign,” said American Foundation for Suicide Prevention CEO Bob Gebbia. “We are also incredibly grateful to Papa Roach and Carrie Underwood for their commitment to providing those struggling with their mental health information and resources that can help. These amazing artists are educating the public about the importance of taking care of our mental health, and they are generously supporting the AFSP’s mission of saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.”

July 22, 2024 – 8-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood wrapped her first-ever concert appearances in Hawaii with two sold-out shows at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena on July 19 and 20, marking the 50th state she has performed in.  Due to extraordinary demand, Underwood added the second show at Blaisdell Arena back in March after selling out the first in under one hour, joining Garth Brooks as the only two country artists to sell out the venue that quickly.

To kick things off, on the eve of her concerts, the Honorable Rick Blangiardi, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, and Governor Josh Green proclaimed July 18 “Carrie Underwood Day,” where she was presented with ceremonial proclamations in recognition of her incredible career achievements, significant cultural and societal contributions, and her first-ever performances in Hawaii.  Underwood is the first country artist to receive this honor from the State of Hawaii and the City and County of Honolulu.  It is the first time in the history of the Aloha State that both have been bestowed upon an entertainer in any genre concurrently by those government entities.

Underwood wowed the sold-out, standing-room-only crowds at both back-to-back nights at the Blaisdell Arena with her incredible vocal prowess and her spectacular, high-energy performances.  The setlist highlighted her stellar catalogue, with the audiences singing along to every word from such #1 hits as “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” “Before He Cheats,” and “Blown Away,” to songs from her latest album, Denim & Rhinestones, and everything in-between.  Across both nights Underwood also covered Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘N Roll,” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

Another highlight of both evenings was when she brought a young girl from the audience to join her on stage each night to sing her #1 hit, “All-American Girl” – bringing back a fan-favorite moment from Underwood’s earlier tours.

Underwood posted more highlights of her trip to Hawaii on Instagram, enjoying everything the beautiful island had to offer.

Later this summer, Underwood resumes her ongoing REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency, which continues to play to packed houses, with tickets currently on sale through October.

July 18, 2024 – Today, 8-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood added a new and historic first to her long list of accolades when both the Honorable Rick Blangiardi, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, and James Tokioka, Director of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, on behalf of Governor Josh Green, presented her with ceremonial proclamations declaring July 18, 2024, as “Carrie Underwood Day.”

The proclamations were issued in recognition of Underwood’s incredible career achievements, significant cultural and societal contributions, and her first-ever performances in Hawaii on July 19 and 20, 2024. Never in the history of the Aloha State have ceremonial proclamations been issued concurrently by the state of Hawaii and the city and county of Honolulu to honor an entertainer.

Concert promoter Rick Bartalini said: “History has been made with Carrie becoming the first artist to receive ceremonial proclamations from both the state and city.  She is in prestigious company of entertainers that have been previously honored by either the Mayor or the Governor in this manner, including Elvis Presley, Janet Jackson, Bruno Mars, and Diana Ross.”

Both proclamations were presented to Underwood at an official ceremony today at the Blaisdell Arena by Rick Blangiardi, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu and Director James Tokioka, on behalf of Governor Josh Green. The proclamation presented by Mayor Blangiardi highlighted Underwood’s career achievements and her embodiment of the Aloha Spirit, stating in part:

“With heartfelt aloha, we thank her for bringing her live show to Hawai‘i and fulfilling the dreams of thousands of fans who have eagerly awaited this opportunity. Carrie Underwood embodies the aloha spirit through her talent, love, and genuine care and compassion for others.”

The state proclamation issued by Governor Josh Green and presented by James Tokioka, made special note of Underwood’s societal and cultural contributions, stating in part:

“Your music, your kindness, your remarkable journey, and your unwavering dedication to making the world a better place have touched countless hearts here in Hawai’i. We are truly blessed to have you bring your extraordinary live experience to the people of Hawai’i for the very first time.

Your presence is a gift, and we embrace you with open arms and warm aloha.”

Due to extraordinary demand, Underwood added a second show at Blaisdell Arena back in March after selling out the first in under one hour.
