ENCINO, CA (March 25, 2019) – The Academy of Country Music® revealed the winners of the new artist categories for the 54TH ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS™, Country Music’s Party of the Year®. Luke Combs, LANCO and Ashley McBryde have been named New Male Artist of the Year, New Vocal Group of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year, respectively. The winners each received a surprise phone call from 14-time ACM Award® winner, two-time ACM Entertainer of the Year and current ACM Award nominee Carrie Underwood, who won the 2005 New Female Vocalist category at the 2006 ACM Awards.

Carrie Underwood and each of the new artist winners will all perform on the show. The awards telecast, hosted by Reba McEntire, will air LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 8:00 PM ET / delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

CERTIFIED PLATINUM BY RIAA ON ANNIVERSARY OF
2018 SUPER BOWL DEBUT

One year after garnering worldwide attention opening NBC’s Super Bowl LII, Carrie Underwood’s hit event anthem, “The Champion,” featuring Ludacris, has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. Underwood co-wrote “The Champion” with fellow songwriters Brett James, Chris DeStefano, and Christopher Bridges PKA Ludacris, who Underwood asked to collaborate on the event song produced by Jim Jonsin. NBC Sports also incorporated “The Champion” into its coverage of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Globally, “The Champion” reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in 10 countries including the U.S. where it held the top spot throughout its release week then rose back to the top of the chart for four consecutive days after the Super Bowl LII opening. The song also debuted Top 5 on the all-genre Top 200 Digital Songs chart and reached No. 7 on the Spotify US Viral 50 Chart with over 151 million streams to date. The poignant and powerful montage video, directed by Jimmy Lynch, won CMT’s 2018 Video Music Award for Female Video of the Year. Additionally, “The Champion” is featured as a bonus track on Underwood’s critically-acclaimed, Gold-certified sixth studio album, Cry Pretty. Released in September 2018, Underwood’s first studio album on Capitol Records Nashville, debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Album Charts and was the biggest all-genre debut by a female in 2018.

Co-produced by Underwood and writer/producer David Garcia, that debut earned Underwood a place in music history as the only woman to land four country albums at the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, as well as the first female country act to top the Billboard Artist 100 Chart. The album was the best-selling Country album debut of 2018, as well as the biggest Country album debut since 2015 and the biggest female Country album debut since 2012. Cry Pretty’s debut week also marked the most first week streams by any female in Country music. It is Underwood’s seventh consecutive album to debut at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart, representing all of her first seven albums including her Greatest Hits: Decade #1. Underwood, who is nominated for Country Artist of the Year at the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Awards, was also Apple Music’s most-streamed Country female artist for 2018. Cry Pretty debuted as the fifth most-streamed Country album in genre history and had the highest solo female debut for all music in 2018. The seven-time Grammy winner and Pollstar’s three-time top female country touring artist will kick off a new arena tour, The Cry Pretty Tour 360, this Spring. Sponsored by CALIA, the tour will kick off on May 1 in Greensboro, NC, and will play 55 arenas across the U.S. and Canada and will be promoted by AEG Presents. She will be joined on tour by special guests Maddie & Tae and Runaway June.

Monday, March 4, 2019 – Multi-platinum superstar and seven-time GRAMMY® Award winner Carrie Underwood has announced a major UK arena tour for Summer 2019, The Cry Pretty Tour UK. She will be joined on the UK tour by special guests, The Shires, the UK’s best-selling country act of all time.
 
Underwood has made numerous visits to the UK over the course of her career. She helped establish UK and Ireland’s Country To Country Festival, the biggest celebration of country music outside North America, with headline performances during its first year in 2013, and again during its fourth year in 2016, which included a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena. Underwood’s first UK concert performance included a sold-out night at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall in 2012.
 
Tickets for the UK shows will go on sale Thursday, March 7 via www.gigsandtours.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk. As she has done for her North American shows, Underwood has arranged for a donation from each ticket sold for The Cry Pretty Tour UK to be contributed to Danita’s Children, which provides a safe haven for abandoned and vulnerable children in Haiti, while encouraging families to stay together through their education and malnutrition programs.

The biggest selling UK country act of all time, The Shires will join Underwood on her UK arena tour this Summer. Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes have been going from strength-to-strength ever since, and released their highly anticipated third album Accidentally on Purpose earlier last year.
