I hope that you will read this and take it under serious advisement.
Nov. 11th is Veterans Day. Now I know that many people will be thanking the veterans and many other things during this awards ceremony. However, no amount of thanks will help you gain back your dignity for celebrating YOUR accomplishments on a day we should be remembering those who gave so much to all of us.
You may say that the veterans have fought for your right to do this and I would not argue with that. They have fought for all of us in this great country to be able to have the right to free speech. But, this is the one and only day set aside to remember, morn, and celebrate the wonderful things the veterans have given us with their lives. Not for a bunch of entertainers to celebrate themselves and may be mention our veterans.
Country music has so many musicians who pride themselves on being American and writing songs that raise feelings of patriotism in all of us. So why does anyone want take away from this single day for remembering our fallen and missing heroes by celebrating themselves.
I hope you, as an entertainer will speak out against going to the CMA Awards. May be instead find some young people and help them understand what this day means.
Veterans day has been forgotten. Many of those who used to have this day off or had this day off have chosen to take the Friday after thanksgiving so they can have a 4-day weekend. Well how about taking the 11th off and think about all of those families who have an empty seat at the thanksgiving table because someone close to them is gone, risking everything for YOU.
Please do not attend the CMAs this year. Everyone involved with this should have known this is a day for our heroes not for our musical idles.
