Underwood duped by HSUS

It is amazing to me that Carrie Underwood is actually supporting HSUS. She must be very confused just like the rest of the populace. The "real" humane society is sure to be suffering because of this and they with Carrie should go after HSUS. If people that read this don't realize the magnitude of this then they should look at what HSUS did with prop 2 in California. Egg producers are now OUT OF BUSINESS. Our eggs will now be produced in Mexico where there are very little controls in place. Who wants that!!!!

These issues should be decided based on logic & science. Not emotion and ignorance!!!

Carrie....if you read these messages ...you need to clear the air and your name!!! Go Public with a retraction and appology to your COUNTRY fan base!!

I hate that people are condemning Carrie Underwood for this! I am also a vegetarian and support animal rights. This is the girl that made me see that it's okay for standing up for what you believe in, even if other people don't agree with you. And now you are telling her that it's not! There is nothing wrong with this! And the fact that you are even mentioning Carrie's name in the same sentence as the word "terrorist" is just ludicrous! You should be applauding her for supporting animal protection and the Humane Society of the United States! I think you owe her a BIG apology!

I really don't see what the big deal is. Carrie has freedom of her own actions, so just let the poor girl be.

Oh good grief. Where do you people think food comes from? I think "city people" believe food comes from the store...without thinking where the store got it. I'm so sick of the liberals of the world sticking their noses into everyone else's business.

The HSUS has done some excellent work through the years. They've gotten legislation passed to prevent animal cruelty and animal fighting. But, in California, Prop 2 will indeed hurt the chicken farmers. This one piece of legislation will cause the cost of eggs and chicken to increase, and most likely prompt the US to begin importing these them from other countries. Could we please apply some common sense to these organizations?

I support HSUS on most issues. But, just like most organizations, a few "crazys" get in there and do more harm than good.

Local business owner here in Stillwater, Ok. So proud of Carrie, feel like she represents most normal Oklahomans.
Guess I missed it, I have no idea what Carrie has said that has started this rukus, but I do know she would have done it with the best of intentions and no malice.
By the way Carrie, when you're looking for the "mother"
song of all time write me, it truly would be the most incredible thing to hear you sing it, and your mom would love it. God bless you!

That's the problem with the world these days. You people inspect every little thing. If people would look at things in a "Simple" way, instead of making things complicated... our country wouldn't be in the hole it's in now, would it?

And it's not just me that likes Carrie. I think the ACMs proved that.

It can open your heart. It can break you apart. And it never even slows down. It's the wheel of the world turning around... and around.

rc2375 - we get it - you like Carrie Underwood. Great. So do the rest of us, we just happen to believe in something more important than infatuation with a country music singer.

You speak as if you are speaking on behalf of all Country music fans. I for one, don't give a crap. I support Carrie.

I could be wrong, but I honestly don't believe Carrie knows anything about HSUS.

Surely by now someone has told her and they are working to fix this - I hope that is the case.

You're right, country music fans will not support HSUS and they're anti-hunting, anti-pet ownership, anti-ranching, forced vegan vegetarian agenda.

I share the same concern, here's my response:

I am an Oklahoma native. I went to undergraduate school in Oklahoma, earned a good job and wrapped up a graduate degree in the evenings. I have a great career but have never lost touch with my roots. Any level of success brings people into your life who do not necessarily have your best interests in mind. I hope Carrie has enough trustworthy people around her to advise her about what it means to be country. I grew up in McAlester and was proud to see another "local" make it big time. Carrie's our first female country superstar from SE Oklahoma since Reba McEntire, right? My family owns land next to the McEntire's where I take my son hunting and fishing. Hopefully Carrie is misinformed about HSUS and PETA and will get the real facts. Heck, perhaps give Reba a call? If Carrie is well-informed and makes this her choice, then I must also put my money where my mouth is and spread the word.

To Carrie, the webmaster or moderator of this forum, or anybody close enough to Carrie to relay the message: this issue is spreading through the web and social networks (i.e. MySpace, Facebook, etc.) like a wildfire in the dry southeast Oklahoma countryside. Please do not underestimate the power of informed people. The Dixie Chicks debacle hit the mainstream media through television because comments were against a conservative President. That was great for east and west coast TV ratings but after the dust settled how have their sales been since that time? Who has stayed behind them? Country people remember who is true and "keep it real". There is no doubt that the media will not put this issue front and center on television because there are no ratings to be gained. Please remember that the evolution of technology and social networks, particularly over the last five years, means that people become informed through avenues other than just television these days. Think about this: how many kids who buy music and support artists are on the web versus how many are watching the news? I'd venture to say some media execs have yet to be truly enlightened by this revolutionary change.
