First, off, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Matthew. You all may feel free to call me Matt. I live in Florida. I am about to graduate from Keiser University in September of this year with a Associate of Science Degree in Medical Assisting.
I just found out today that I have been accepted into the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, where I will be training to become an X-Ray Technologist. Later on, I'm thinking of going on to become an MRI technologist and even maybe get some experience in CT Scans and such.
I run a web site and a forum of my own. Yes. They are both "Free" account web sites. I'm not rich, like a lot of you. But I have a few friends whom support me in the Web Site and Forum and are even attempting to help me make it better then it is now. I enjoy movies, gaming, and hanging out with my friends.
But one of the most important aspects that has effected my life is music. I was born and raised around country music. I started out loving Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shina Twain, and such country music artists.
I loved Carrie since I heard her first song “Jesus, Take The Wheel” on my radio. No, I didn’t ever really watch Carrie on American Idol. Mainly because the few times I tried watching the show when it first started, I just couldn’t stand the music that they had going on there. I couldn’t force myself into something I don’t care for, you know? So I just didn’t really pay much attention to it.
But I am a fan nonetheless. I will refrain from calling myself her biggest fan, because I’m sure that is not true. The point of this topic, is to try and bring peace to the web site. I’m sure you all are probably laughing right now. I know, I have a lack of brains. Yada, yada, yada. Well, at least now you know a little bit about me. I’m a real person. Just as you are.
Recently, Carrie’s web site has announced that she has recorded her own version of the song “Home Sweet Home” and it’s up for download on iTunes right now for $0.99. The news story also stated that a portion of the proceeds would be going to the Humane Society of the United States. AKA HSUS.
In turn, a lot of you were displeased with this news. The twelve topics on the same subject you have in the “Carrie Underwood Discussions” Board and the “Off Topic” Board is proof enough.
You all have suggested that HSUS is Anti-Hunter, Anti-Pets, and thus forth. Now before you all start screaming at me, let me finish. Please. Hear me out on this. I, myself, have not really ever heard of this stuff against HSUS. At this point, do not assume I’m supporting or not supporting HSUS.
I’ve done a little bit of looking to this. Here are two web sites I think you should examine and consider the arguments posted on before you attack anyone or anything.
I ask that you read both and consider them all on the same level before choosing a side. Because that’s exactly what’s happening here. This whole situation has divided us. We’re turning on each other. Over what? A deal we have no control over?
There is exactly twelve topics on the same subject in the “Carrie Underwood Discussions” Board and the “Off Topic” Board. And that’s just those two boards. I haven’t dared to look in the other boards. Here’s the links:
Now think about that for just a moment. Wouldn’t you agree, that twelve topics on the same subject is a little excessive? I’m not saying you don’t have a right to your opinion. But can’t we keep it in control? I found myself last night, getting mean and vulgar toward Teddy123.
It wasn’t until this morning, that I realized what I was doing. I wasn’t helping the situation. I was making it worse. I’ve decided, no more! I’m done fighting with you people. You all have a right to your opinions. If you wish to stop supporting Carrie because of a deal you have no control over, then so be it.
All I ask is that you respect our (The fans) opinions of continuing to support her.
Because If you are a true fan, then you know that Carrie wouldn’t like it. And in turn, this really has nothing to do with PETA. They are not involved in any way. Officials of Carrie have said nothing about them. And I will also state a fact that this has nothing to do with the Dixie Chicks. From what I have read, they are still a big thing. Just not in country music. So let’s drop that argument too. It's irrelevant.
If you wish to debate, then do it in a civil manner, with real proof to back up your objections. And please! Before you reply, think!
Those who are opposed to HSUS, have the right to state it. But don’t spam the forum with new topics on the same subject. It’s just childish. And you know it.
And I understand now, that Hunters are offended by this deal.
And for the record, my opinion, I will continue to support Carrie. I don’t really care what HSUS does as long as they leave me alone. I have not seen any signs that they are attempting to take away my rights as an American.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am not trying to change your opinions, I just want us all to civil and treat each other with respect!
I extend my deepest apologizes to any of you who I might have angered or hurt with vulgar remarks or rudeness and meanness.
Nice job Matt. You have summed up a topic that really has gotten out of hand. You have presented your view and have allowed others now to reply and move on. I respect that very much and as a big Carrie fan I agree with where you are coming from.
