Hello, everyone!
I'm new here, but I was converted to a Carrie Underwood fan when I saw her Guns N Roses covers on YouTube--Wow!! Amazing!! No one has ever been able to cover Axl Rose like Carrie.
I have always appreciated Carrie's talent and realized that she was a great singer, but that was it; I never paid any attention to her music or took her seriously in any other way. I'm a traditional country music fan and classic rock metal fan. I like music with soul, jive, swagger, attitude, and grit, hence, the huge Gnr fan.
When I saw Carrie cover the gnr tunes (November Rain, PC, SCOM, Patience) I realized immediately that Carrie "gets it." She was not some "pop princess" trying to show off her "bad girl" side. Carrie is a soul singer and understands that country music is a "feeling" and that Gnr have and have always had a vibe of old school "country" underneath their heavier sound. Axl and Slash were the real deal. Slash's guitar weeps and whines and cries as good as any steel guitar in a Jones or Haggard song and Axl's raspy soulful voice has the natural and instinctive pain and soul as a Hank or Jones or Waylon Jennings. Carrie understands this. Real country music is belted from the heart. She understands that Guns N Roses have more in common with traditional honky tonk/country music than the sugar-coated, air-brushed, computer enhanced mainstream pop country of today. Carrie goes straight to the heart with the gritty and powerful Gnr covers.
My only remaining question: When is Carrie going to cover or make an entire album of old school country? I would LOVE to see Carrie sing George Jones!!!!! Carrie, if you read these forums, please cover some George Jones!!! I would love to see her cover "A Good Year for the Roses" "When the Grass Grows Over Me" or "Choices," "I'll Share my World with You" "A Picture of Me without You" George Jones, like Axl Rose, is almost impossible to cover or imitate. His singing range (high to low) is unparalleled and he has more sould in one syllable than most country singers have in a lifetime of singing. Carrie, cover some George Jones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While you're at it, cover some Haggard (Mamma Tried), Waylon, Loretta, Tammy,

I was shocked with her rendition of "Paradise City" at the concert in State College, PA this past weekend. She totally blew me away and I loved it. Carrie you r amazing!
Great post - you obviously get Carrie - she has an amazing ability to interpret a song and she sings from her soul, a very sensitive person - she picks wonderful songs to sing. I love
old country also and would LOVE an album from Carrie and an album of some rock covers-
I can't get enough of her singing!!
Im a huge guns n roses fan. I have not yet heard Carries versions of the songs and I must say I am slightly sceptical. But Carrie is perhaps the only singer I know who would do the songs justice. Good on her for having the guts to attempt such difficult and legendary songs. Carrie Underwood has basically taken country music into the 21st century and created a new generation of listeners along the way. I beleive Carrie could have had the same sucess in a number of music styles, pop and rock for example. Her beauty alone is enough to initially grab attention and than she only has to sing to gain fans and make people see that she has the total package. Carrie is awesome, Iam still trying to organise a date with her. Slim chance, I know, but fingers crossed.
Not sure if Carrie will read this herself but i do agree with you honky tonk angel, & I have the live concert video to prove it from the march 21st show in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I hope somebody can let me know how to send pics & video to Carrie to be submitted for her websites.
