Carrie, I think you do a great job and have tried to be a positive role model for my girls. However, this morning my 8 year old daughter heard the song All American Girl and said "Mommy, is she saying dads only like to bring boys fishing? I go fishing with my dad." Your song forced me to explain that although I have taught her that she can do anything there are still people in this world who think certain things are for boys and certain things are for girls. I followed that by telling her that my dad coached my girls soccer team to state finals several years in a row and I love fishing too!
It is a great sounding song but the lyrics are sending the wrong message especially to the young girls who listen to Radio Disney.
This song makes me crazy -- it could have been a homerun if the father had realized that his daughter could fish and play sports also. Girls have so much more to contribute to the world than being a disappointed when born, being told to be cute and sweet, wear pink and manipulate men.
Are you suggesting that my dad was disappointed because I wasn't a boy? I was a serious athlete for 15 years and my dad was one of my biggest supporters! What kind of negative gender stereotyping are trying to push onto our little girls Carrie? Do you really want your young female listeners to think that dating the football star and manipulating him into missing practice and losing a scholarship is what they were born for? MY GOODNESS CARRIE! Don't you think you as a girl have more to offer this world? SHAME ON YOU!

Temporary Home is my favorite song of the PLAY ON cd. Carrie's vocals get better with every new song, but this one really hit me in the chest. The first time I heard Play On was late at night and I had to keep the volume down low. I finally got to listen to album with the volume cranked up. This album Rocks!!! I didn’t at first think it was as good as Carnival Ride (an album I conceder a masterpiece), now I think it blows it away.
