I love Carrie's music and think she is an incredible artist, but I cant believe how thoughtless she was when she recorded "Just a Dream". She should not talk about things that she does not understand. I am engaged to an Infantry Army Officer on the front lines in Iraq and although I am planning our wedding it is very possible that I will be planning his funeral. I love her songs I just can't listen to that one.

if carries' song "just a dream" offends you, then you are way too sensitive. you need to stop overreacting and get a life! my fiance was killed in iraq last year and this song was one of the main things that helped me get through that tragic time. i am so thankful so this song! there is nothing wrong with someone singing a song that deals with things that they have not personally expericenced in their life! i listen to "just a dream" every day and although it does feel like it is just a dream that my fiance is not coming back, it is a fact of life. and this song really helps me when im down about it. thank you carrie for this song!
I completely agree. My husband is deployed and I deal with everything that comes with that everyday. When I heard the song I was not only deeply hurt but also angry. The more Ive thought about it the more ive realized that she (and other artists who write songs like that one) really feel they are doing good by recordning these songs and really need to be informed that they shouldnt. Although there are plenty of songs that are emotional I dont feel its appropriate that its an ongoing issue right now and that thousands of women (and men bc yes women deploy too) are dealing with.
Its a song with lyrics. I dont know who wrote it. But if no one ever recorded a song that someone else thought was insensitive, none would ever be recorded. It is a sad song, it is mirroring real life today unfortunately. I can understand how it would be hard for some to listen to. Do you think Carrie sat down and listened to it and thought, this song is gonna make somebody hurt so I will record it?
I get how some people may not really like the story of this song, but Carrie means well with it. It is about the reality that some people have to face with soldiers in war, and it is completely understandable that it is not liked by some people. Once again I am sure Carrie and her writers did not mean to offend anyone with this song.

I like know what you are feeling. It is a sad harsh thing knowing your loved one was/can be killed in a war. But Carrie is not dis-respecting anyone with this song. She's sharing the peoples' stories who have to unfortunatly be in that situation. I went through a terrible war,and this song was really touching and nice knowing Carrie would record it to show people what is happening and how someone would feel.

hello to everyone who loves her as much as I do
we all want to meet her including me and you
hopefully my crazy dream comes true!
Even though I think the song is OK but sad, I think you should have been more sensitive to the lady's feelings. I had an uncle killed in WW II and my grandmother never really got over it. Let;s just pray the lady's fiancee comes back OK. Carrie said she had in mind Vietnam when she recorded the song but going to war causes anxiety for those who stay behind no matter what war it may be.
Let's remember the brave mena and women who serve our nation.
Ummmm this is the lamest thing I've ever heard.
I think the message is incredible. You marry the love of your life...but then look what happens,he dies in a war. I think that sends america a good message to stop the war because many loved ones are being killed. Just like what the character went through(in the video) is what real people go through. She's just showing us what happens...... and the song is supposed to be nice..
Im sure if your fiance dies you'll feel like its just a dream!
