Carrie, in my opinion, the reason "Wasted" became such a big hit for you is the fact that it shows everybody that, no matter how dark things look right now, they can get better. Plus, I can identify with both verses. I have been in relationships that went wrong, and I am a recovering alcoholic. And in the 13 years I have been sober, I have heard the still of the morning and seen the color of the night. I have also learned that those years I thought were wasted are being turned around by the God of my understanding into tools to help me weather any storms life throws at me now, as well as being able to understand others and share my experience with them so that they know they are not alone. What a great feeling this song exemplifies. I do have to disagree with one thing you say in your liner notes, however. You deserve all of your current success. Keep reaching for that gold ring! And keep reaching deep inside yourself for those memories and that strength! Keep stretching yourself and enjoying your music. And the only reason you needed American Idol was the exposure it gave your obvious talent. I am looking forward to seeing you in concert, and I hope you sing "Wasted" and "I Want to be Inside Your Heaven." You rock, young lady! You have a long, promising career ahead of you, and I am looking forward to adding your next album to my collection.
