American Idol is my favorite show and ever since Chris Daughtry sang "home" for the going away song i knew carrie would have to get it one season. then daniel powder had it, and then ruben studdard. so YAY CARRIE!!!!! I am a huge Carrie Underwood fan - have been since her days on Idol - and I am so disappointed that her "camp" has chosen to support the radical animal rights group, HSUS. Most people don't realize that HSUS is *not* a group about rescue of stray dogs and cats like your local Humane Society. Instead, it is a group akin to PETA, whose real agenda is the eradication of animals for human use - whether that is for pets, food, or otherwise. I'm now afraid I will have to delete the music I have purchased online, throw away my cds and tell others not to support Carrie, which saddens me, as I think she's one of the few truely talented coutry singers of this day.

Bought the download after hearing a snippet.As Usual Carries Spin on "Home Sweet Home" I think is better than some of Vince Neil's and Motley Crues performances of the song.She puts so much feeling into it with her Vocal Ability and feelings and she does it so wonderful and sincere I have to say I relly love her version of this Rock Classic.

I have also always been a huge Carrie Underwood fan, watching her on idol and enjoying the music she has released since then. I am deeply saddened by her choice to support the HSUS - a group that uses false advertising to make its followers believe it helps animals in similar ways to local animal shelters when it in fact does not. Someone with such an influence on people should do a little more research before teaming up with such a dangerous organization. I will not be downloading "Home Sweet Home" and it saddens me to say I can no longer support such a talented artist because of the poor decisions she has made since promoting her "sweet home, country girl" image on Idol.

Carrie, I loved watching you on Idol, I was very happy to see a sweet country girl suceed like you have. UNTIL I found out you support HSUS and PETA, I think it is just because you have been sent into this whirl wind at a young impressionable age. The wrong people are influencing you.
I am a 43 year old horse trainer that has seen HSUS tear apart so many sectors of animal agriculture. You need to look at this situation and listen to the grass roots of america, not Wayne Pacelle. Find people who can educate you as to what they really do, I won't totally write you off because I think your being misled. If you need help understanding Waynes World just contact me and I can prove all the half truths and lies that HSUS represents.
Did you not think there was a reason that so many walked out on you at the FFA convention. It wasn't cause you sounded bad. You need more education and you could be a much greater asset to animals by not dealing with either HSUS or PETA.

Carrie... you were really my Idol. But now I will treat you the way HSUS and PETA treats law abiding animal lovers and hunters. I cannot believe you have decided to support these people that "claim" they are out to help animals. I wish you would do some research into the PETA and HSUS organizations and see what they really do. Don't look at their information. Look at the REAL information. They destroy animals and think it's ok. They take them to woods and throw them out instead of burying them properly. HSUS only mission is to destroy hunting, fishing, trapping and the sports that we, as Americans have the right to do. Please change your mind on this one. Please. Do not be swayed by these people. I'm so glad that Carrie has chosen to support such a worthy organization. Despite some of the rants previously posted- several of which are suspiciously similar- HSUS is a fantastic organization that promotes the general well-being of animals. They do NOT discourage pet ownership, when done so in a responsible manner. While they may be opposed to hunting, which is one topic that had been repeatedly mentioned in this posting, it is because they don't believe that animals should suffer so that we can feast on them. Is that REALLY such radical idea? God forbid an organization such as the Humane Society show a little compassion. (p.s. Carrie is *gasp* vegetarian!)

This is getting way out of line, and to you people who have stopped being a fan, you're still on the fansite so what the heck? I'm such a HUGE fan! Kudos for supporting The Humane Society of the US! They do a lot for animal cruelty and the people posting on here have no idea what they're talking about! Our country is better thanks to their work on puppy mills, dogfighting, spay/neuter laws, the Canada seal hunt, and lots of other important issues -- NOT JUST HUNTING!

Oh, and by the way, HSUS doesn't say ANYWHERE on their site that they run animal shelters OR that their opposed to hunting in general -- just the really bad kind like canned hunting or hunting threatened species. Do your homework, people!

And while all you folks are urging Carrie to study up on hsus, how about studying up yourself about the distortions coming from ussa, activist cash, etc. etc. But I have to go now--gotta go buy some more of Carrie's music!

Carrie - I don't doubt for a moment that your heart is in the right place. So, if I might be so bold as to make a suggestion:

Why not designate some local rescues or humane societies to receive the donations directly? That way, you clearly are not going back on your word to donate to help animals find homes. In fact, that IS the way to help animals find new homes. The HSUS does NOT do that!! Local rescues and humane societies DO!!!! HSUS is no more than a political action committee. By giving the money directly to the locals you can simply say you decided to give the money to those on the front lines in the effort of finding new homes for deserving dogs and cats.

I was so pleased to see you win American Idol, but much more so to see you join the Grand 'Ol Opry; especially being invited to join by my all-time favorite singer, Randy Travis. Please do not disappoint us. Please donate the money directly to those on the front line.

The Humane Society of the United States fights some of the worst abuses of animals and Carrie should be proud to be supporting a group like that! It's really sad that some organizations like the US Sportsmen's Alliance support some of the egregiously cruel practices that HSUS fights to end, like canned hunting and live pigeon shoots.

Most of HSUS work against abusive wildlife practices targets "canned hunting" where tame, exotic animals are shot in fenced enclosures with no ability to escape. many of these animals come from zoos and circuses, often sold when they get too old to draw a crowd. Unfortunately, the US Sportsmen's Alliance supports canned hunting! They've opposed federal legislation to stop the hunting of tame animals in fenced enclosures!

USSA also supports the hunting of threatened and endangered species! They even went to court to fight for their right to hunt them. They opposed efforts to stop the hunting of imperiled grizzly bears, even though they're threatened with extinction. And they support the importation of sport-hunted cheetah trophies, even though the species is endangered!

It's more than a bit hypocritical for a group like that to call anyone else an "extremist."

The USSA supported amending the Marine Mammal Protection Act in order to allow American hunters to shoot imperiled polar bears in Canada and bring the trophies back home with them. Polar bears are now listed as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.

The USSA has fiercely opposed efforts to restrict bear baiting, where bears are lured to piles of garbage, rotting meat and old donuts and then shot in the back.

I sincerely doubt that the majority of Carrie Underwood's fans support these inhumane practices!

The HSUS works tirelessly to help all animals. They run programs to spay and neuter animals in poor and rural areas. They are the leading responder when disasters strike, rescuing thousands of animals and reuniting them with their families in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and after devastating floods and fires. They fight for animals inside puppy mills. They work with schools and companies to adopt cage free eggs policies. They fight truthful labeling of fur garments so that people who don't want to wear fur know what fur is real. They help homeowners and residents resolve conflicts with wildlife.

The HSUS has more than 11 million members. That's one out of every 29 Americans. It's hardly a fringe group. The truth is, most people care about animals and don't want to see them unnecessarily harmed. Unfortunately, there will always be some who just don't care and think that shooting a caged animals at near point blank range is sporting.

Carrie, don't listen to these confused nay-sayers! We both ( along with millions of Americans) know that HSUS does AMAZING work on behalf of the animals, as well as helping people in poverty with their animals. I'm so excited to see you're supporting them with your new song!

Carrie, It is fantastic that you are so generously donating to the HSUS. It is horribly sad, but almost entertaining, to read the conspiracy theories by some of these misled individuals. It is a pretty sad testament that these people spend time and energy spreading complete lies and negativity for such a worthy cause and admirable action on your part to help those that cannot speak for themselves.

The HSUS is a great organization that is extremely effective in carrying out its mission. Anyone who is this fervent against people and organizations that help ease the suffering of animals obviously lack merit and any credibility.

But, now you have some first hand experience into what animal welfare organizations are up against. Most intelligent people can come to the conclusion that animals should not suffer cruelty or abuse in any of its forms. It's just plain wrong and senseless.

First of all, I love your music, Carrie! And I was so happy when I saw that you were donating money to The Humane Society of The United States. I can't think of a more deserving animal group. I don't often have extra money to donate to charities, but when I do, I always send money to them.

I volunteered a week of my time right after hurricane Katrina to go down to Gonzales, LA to help take care of the animals rescued from New Orleans. There were so many animals at that make-shift rescue facility and it was amazing to see people from all over the country volunteering their time to help out! I can't even remember how many people from HSUS I ran into while I was there. There were tons of animal groups there, but I met so many people from HSUS and they were extremely dedicated to helping as many animals as they possibly could. Most people barely slept or took any time away from taking care of all of the rescued animals. It was an amazing experience and I'm glad I was able to help.

Thank you for supporting HSUS, Carrie! There are a lot of wonderful and dedicated animal groups out there and I can firmly say HSUS is one of them!!!

I am so sorry about the "hornets nest" this seems to have stirred up for you, Carrie. I know your heart was in the right place, wanting to do something so generous to help animals in need. I don't watch television & rarely read the national headlines, so I am not abreast of what some folks here are referring to.....I guess that HSUS is corrupt? Isn't it a shame that a few lousy individuals seem to ruin it for everyone, there are always a few bad apples in every basket and that could very well be the case with HSUS. ( as well as other large organizations! ) However.......I'd like to think that HSUS main mission is the welfare of animals and I would hope that the funds you are so kindly donating will be used for spay/ neuter programs, emergency medical funds, rabies shot clinics, shelter care, etc. As I feel that is probably what you had in mind. Hold your head up & focus on the goodness that is all around us. If goodness was your intent, than that is what will be.

Carrie isn't interested in doing anything but loving animals and giving them good homes she's not out to stop ranchers (her dad is one)as she is herself as well as a fisherwoman and I'm sure she's aware hunting wild animals is necessary to manage and protect our wildlife.She has also said she'd like to have her own Animal Shelter.I'm sure she's not into radical endorsement.As for the song Home Sweet Home the way she sings it it sounds country.

No one here is opposed to Carrie (and thru her, our) money supporting the animals. Just the opposite. That is why many have supported the idea of the money going directly to the local rescues and humane societies.

What we are not willing to allow is for any portion of our money to end up in the pocket of politicians who are given money by H$U$ to write laws ending all relationship between people and animals.

I would never have believed that it would be "controversial" to give money to an organization that protects animals but I forgot how small-minded and self-serving so many people can be! The HSUS is primarily raising their funds to destroy our national heritage of hunting.
