Carrie Underwood Discussion

The Song How Great Thou Art...did You know this?

Hello Carrie!! Hope that You are feeIing good. I have seen the duet on YouTube where You sing this song with Mr Vince Gill, and i think it`s terrific Smiling

I`d like to share some fun facts with You about that song that You might find interresting (i hope).

The lyrics was written by a swedish reverend in 1885, his name was Carl Boberg (he was born in Mönsterås in northeastern province of Småland). The melody was originally an ancient folksong, he named it O, Store Gud (in direct translation: Oh, Great God). It was a major hit when its was recorded by Mr Elvis Presley in 1966, but Mr Presley didn`t learn about the origin of the song until 1973 when he was told by his swedish pianoplayer Per-Erik Hallin that it was written in Sweden Smiling

Keep up the great work

Best regards

I really hope Carrie does a Gospel album. She sings "How Great Thou Art" beautifully. I'd LOVE to hear her sing "Amazing Grace."

I always thouht so. Like I said she sings "How Great Thou Art" beautifully. I know on her first album she sang "Jesus Take the Wheel", and she stared in "Soul Surfer" which is defintly a Christian movie.

Listen to the lyrics of the majority of her songs, that will answer your question. It is funny that I just saw this post. I watched that youtube video a good five times yesterday (even shared it on my facebook). I love how when she is singing it you can literally feel her singing to God. It is a powerful/beautiful rendition. I appreciate that she uses her amazing talents to glorify the Lord, there needs to be more people like that. Vince adds that extra emotion with his phenomenal guitar solo. Listening to that songs makes me feel like I need to go to church and sing out to the Lord (although my singing probably wouldn't make him smile as much as Carries haha).

Put this on my ipod! She sings it BEAUTIFULLY!!!! I don't have the version with Vince Gill.(I also like him, because he is the husband of another one of my favorite singers Amy Grant.) But Carrie sings it beautifully. Is she a Christian?
