Almost as soon as dogs are born they're experience the soft warmth of their mothers' tongue, which bathes them with maternal affection~~~ so perhaps then the question really shouldn't be "why dogs lick people" it should be "is it ok for dogs to lick people" !!!

However, I guess you could say it's a bit like a delicacy! Some people love it and some people hate it!

There are many reasong why dogs lick people since dogs aren't able to talk, they use lick as a way to communicate and show emotion, it's a way to show people respect submission and affection. If a dog likes you, they'll normally lick your hand or even your face as a sign of acceptance. On the other hand, your dog might just want to be walked or of feed, which might be another reason your dog licks you.
